Jon Silva remixes spotted in the wild

Whoaaa...long time no update on this page. Actually, this is another good reason to follow me on twitter and Facebook as there have been countless updates during the last weeks. For instance, there was coverage on the amazing goulash soup from Jon Silva's kitchen, served at the björkvin booth on January's Bread & Butter trade show in Berlin, including pictures. I also mentioned the release dates of a couple of my remixes and posted links to videos on YouTube. Anyway, here's everything you may have missed since the last blog post on pesto.de (or pestomusic.com), condensed into one neat post.

Let's begin with the remix that's been out first. Released on 18th Jan (the second day of my Berlin week), we have "Believe" released via my bulgarian friends from U.S.B. Here's the full tune from Pesto Music's Soundcloud profile, a Beatport link is included on the Soundcloud page for that tune or will be displayed if you click on the "down" arrow at the right hand side of the player. A link to the track on YouTube will be shown by clicking on the info button above said arrow symbol:

We are staying in eastern Europe, going up a bit north to Romania and that's where Addex resides. I've had the great pleasure to remix his tune "Gratitude" that features Christoph Kardek (going further north west if you will) from France. My remix is part of a couple of other really must-hear reworks of Addex's album "Moments in timeless strings" on the highly reputated Etoka label. I posted this one to my Soundcloud account as well: there's a set named "What I'm currently working on" with - you guessed it - stuff that I'm currently mangling through my magic music making machine here. Since there are so many other cool mixes, I'll post the Beatport player here instead:

The last stop of our little journey through Europe takes us further westward to the beautiful city of Madrid in Spain. That's the homebase of the fresh Alma Soul imprint, a label that has failed to disappoint with its releases and I'm happy to be a member of their ever growing artist roster. I was asked to remix Ramiro Lopez' "Gift Co". Which I did and found myself on the release that just came out today, together with a long time Pestolero and supporter, a certain Mr. K-Bana:)

Here's that Beatport player:

Jon Silva guest mix for "Open House" podcast

logo of Open House podcast
A sunny weekend is ahead, drinks are in the fridge and you're doing countless sit-ups to get in shape for summer - what could be better than a new Jon Silva DJ mix? What about a brand new mix by Acryl's Da Funk to be followed by a brand new Jon Silva mix? Let me quote from Randy Seidman's page:

Today, Open House brings you exclusive sets by two artists who are synonymous with quality House Music…

The first hour is brought to you by Da Funk – The Swiss producer/DJ discovered the scene as a teenager nearly 20 years ago, and has been involved ever since. He started Acryl Music in 2004 which prides itself on deep, techy, forward thinking & innovative House music – and if you are into quality deep, then you are likely to have heard his work.

Da Funk's tracklist:

01. Ark – Rising
02. Soul Minority – Get Together
03. Brendon Moeller – Phazed & Confused
04. Wagon Cookin – Fever (Nacho Marco Remix)
05. Allen – Freezing (Felipe Venegas Flute Break Remix)
06. DJ Bee – Ten Years (Jesus Gonsev Remix)
07. Hey O Hansen – Moon (Jack Is A Simple Fella Mix)
08. Jim Rivers – By Any Means (Luna City Express Remix)
09. Kevin Yost – Too Cool For Me

11. John Daly – Do It
12. Nomi & Rampa – Inside (&Me Remix)
13. Paronator – September (Da Funk’s Freefloater Dub)

The show’s closing hour is mixed by German production master Jon Silva. Also a veteran to the scene, Jon has been involved with the production and distribution of quality deep and tech house since the late 80’s and has a pile of 12 inch records to his name. In 2001 he developed his own imprint called Pesto, which first influenced my taste in deeper shades of house music. Enjoy!

Jon Silva's tracklist:

01. Ricardo Rueda – Summer Time
02. Fernando Mesa – Need U
03. Bucher & Kessidis – Central Park
04. Norman Creed & Patryk Molinari – Access
05. Berny – Shplatten (Joy Kitikonti Remix)
06. Coce Djz – Messing With My Mind
07. Piyush Awashti – Fragments (Santiago Garcia Remix)
08. Dan Curtin – Mr. Bean Do An E (DJ Madskillz Remix)
09. Ivan Weber – People Are Strange
10. Nick Fay – Progression (Jon Silva’s Rise & Fall Mix)

Just one thing though: I started releasing music in the late 1990ies, not 1980ies - I'm not THAT old as you'd guess from my wrinkles!;)

Here's the direct link to the episode. Make sure you also check out the other episodes of this brilliant weekly podcast, Randy has some really well known and interesting names up there.

PestoMix 009 by Jon Silva - Goosebumped

PestoCast150x150
For all of you who were too shocked by my Pop music outing recently, here's something to assure you I'm still within the underground:D

I had the great honour and pleasure to deliver a one hour Jon Silva guest mix for Fady Ferraye's "Goosebumped" show on Frisky Radio on February 23rd. As the mix contains quite some promos and unreleased tracks, it's still fresh as the morning, even though some of the tunes have been released in the meantime.

Since my set was limited to one hour, I'd like to mention that this download contains two bonus tracks, including one unreleased Pesto tune by Russia's Ivan Weber and a true classic by Trancesetters - "The Search" - released on the awesome Touché imprint, home of some of Booka Shade's and Laidback Luke's early works, back in 1995.

Here's the track list:
01. Seroton - Ameenae (Terry Lee Brown Jr. Remix) [Clear Recordings]
02. Fady Ferraye - Amman (Da Funk's Double Apple Remix) [Pesto]
03. Fer Ferrari - Groove Is In The Air [Deep Class]
04. Ross Couch - All At Sea (Karol XVII & MB Valence Remix) [Body Rhythm]
05. dont, Nemus & Little Nakoch - Murr (Jon Silva's I Got Luv Remix) [dont]
06. From P60 - Over The Sea (Jon Silva's Soda Inc. Mix) [IRMA]
07. Alex Flatner & Lopazz - Make Up Your Mind (Steve Lawler Vocal Mix) [Cocoon Digital]
08. Markus Doerr - Dibadey (Abel Riballo & Adilette Man Remix) [Clubstar]
09. Nick Fay - Progression (Jon Silva's Rise & Fall Remix) [USB Digital]
10. Ulusoy & Uysal - Turkish Mood (The Mulder's Elektrisch Remix) [Spherax]

Classic House tunes: Daft Punk - Da Funk, Around The World & Revolution 909

Hey, did you know that Daft Punk, before writing pop music and movie scores, dedicated a song to our mate Da Funk from Switzerland? Just kidding, but you have to admit it reads well. Check out this classic from 1995 - the original release on Soma was not such a huge hit until Virgin released it again in 1996. Did I say already I have the original Soma 12"?

If you found this video too depressing towards the end, here's another classic from them that will lift you up again - "Around The World":

Last one for now and actually one of my favourites from their "Homework" album, also dating from 1996. As different as these three tunes are, as much do they reveal the great art behind Daft Punk's videos. I highly recommend you check out the Daft Punk video channel on youtube.

Traxx 004: Da Funk - Roasted (incl. Jon Silva & The Mulder remixes) exclusive on Beatport

traxx_004_reflect
We took quite a break on Traxx, but here we come with our next release. And it was worth waiting for it!

Traxx 004 comes from Switzerland's Da Funk who runs the renowned Acryl Music label and gained quite some attention with his productions and remix works recently. Da Funk has been putting out original tunes on Forensic, Plastic City, Pesto and, of course, his very own Acryl Music. His tunes got licensed to a bunch of hi class compilations such as Café del Mar and his productions and DJ mixes are a staple of radio stations such as Ibiza Sonica, Frisky Radio or Ibiza Global Radio. He was also our guest on the PestoMix radio show on danceradio.gr on 20th July 2008 (download available here soon).

If you're familiar with our catalogue, you might have noticed that Da Funk has already released his amazing "Electronic Love" via our smashing compilation "2.0 - The Next Generation Of Pesto Artists" and we also had him as a remixer for our Pesto 005 release. So it was just a matter of time until Da Funk would be present on our Traxx sublabel to contribute a pure summer tune, full of deepness, groove and soul - exactly what you'd expect from a bangin' Da Funk production.

Support comes from our in house artists Jon Silva and The Mulder who are both well known guests on the global download charts and playlists to round up this diverse and arse-kicking release. No doubt - Traxx is back!!!

Winter Music Conference

While everybody else is warming up for Miami and pushing out WMC samplers, we at Pesto will refrain from doing so. We prefer supplying you with excellent single releases on both Pesto and Traxx. "What's cooking?" you may ask - our answer will be an amazing release by Sandra Lima called "Higher".

Some of you might have heard the tune already but we'll release it in brand new versions and the "Higher" release will come with a huge bunch of remixes by some of the world's most famous artists. Pesto 011 includes remixes by House music's legend Jay-J and the usual suspects Jon Silva aka The Mulder. Pesto 011R will feature an amazing set of remixes by currently one of the hottest producers named Justin Michael, Thomas White of Natural Rhythm and West Coast Collective's very own Torin Rea plus a few more goodies.

Pesto 011 and 011R will be a true cross-Atlantic coop offering the very best in Deep House that's available on the planet right now. And, of course, we'll stick with the tradition of giving you the Pesto FreeBees, our hi quality MP3 downloads that you'll get for free. This time, we'll even offer you two free versions to download alongside the release of Pesto 011 and 011R.

On our sublabel Traxx Recordings, there's more hawtness coming your way: we're proud to announce that highly sought-after producer Da Funk from Switzerland's Acryl Music is having his debut on Traxx. After his "Electronic Love" on PestoLP002 (2.0 - The Next Generation Of Pesto Artists) founds its way into the CD sleeves of countless top DJs from all over, Da Funk returns with another smasher. "Roasted" will be one of the tunes to watch out for this spring and it's surely going to be one of this year's Eivissa staples. Traxx 005 will also come with a nice set of remixes - read more about them here in brief.
