Summer is here and we at Pesto have the perfect soundtrack for that occasion:

With huge support from House jocks, radio stations and tastemakers all over, we were able to place this massive summer tune on a couple of upcoming compilations already. Raisani Miami Sessions (Dubai), Ibiza Global Radio, Open Bar (NYC) and Clubstar/Soulstar (Germany) - they all had a reason to put "Higher" in their mixes.

Finally, Sandra Lima's debut on Pesto is happening and here are six reasons to look forward to the outdoor season: DeepHouse icon Jay-J contributes two smashing mixes, Jon Silva adds some mid-90ies flavour and The Mulder is pleasing us with his top-notch DeepTech sound. This is the sound of the summer 2008!

We're happy to announce another partnership: Raunchy Rhythms Radio from London, UK. Here's how Andy, the owner and founder, describes the concept behind Raunchy Rhythms:

Raunchy Rhythms Radio created by station Owner Andy B around just over a year ago, a self confessed house music lover & bedroom DJ having never played out to a large audience himself, our aim is to provide an online radio station not only for the big boys in the industry but also the relatively unknown DJs a chance to broadcast their DJ mixing skills across the world wide web for all the house music lover’s out there 24 hours a day.

After last year's summer of remixes (pt. 1 and pt. 2) was quite successful for Jon Silva, this year is not any worse.
Jon has been asked to remix tunes by Scope on Urban Torque, Andy Sant on Detroit's Kolour Recordings, Orlando Vaughan on Duff Note, Aki-Tek on Red King/Ministry of Sound and Sebastian Davidson on both New York City's Glideslope and our neighbours Clubstar.

Some of those mixes are already finished (despite some took ages - sorry Ateka), some are work in progress. As soon as these releases will be available, we will let you know and provide further information. PestoMix 008 by Ricardo Torres - New & Improved

Imagine this: you're listening to some internet radio station and one of the DJs presented there really catches your attention with a very unique blend of US House. One day, you discover a tune in one of his mixes and the track list reveals it's a white label bootleg. You're now searching for this guy's web site, get in touch with him and he is more than just nice and puts the tune up his server. You are staying in touch with him, become online friends and it turns out that his wife is an amazing singer.

Sounds like a fairytale? It surely is, but that's the story how Ricardo Torres, Sandra Lima and Jon Silva got in touch.

While everybody else is warming up for Miami and pushing out WMC samplers, we at Pesto will refrain from doing so. We prefer supplying you with excellent single releases on both Pesto and Traxx. "What's cooking?" you may ask - our answer will be an amazing release by Sandra Lima called "Higher".

Some of you might have heard the tune already but we'll release it in brand new versions and the "Higher" release will come with a huge bunch of remixes by some of the world's most famous artists. Pesto 011 includes remixes by House music's legend Jay-J and the usual suspects Jon Silva aka The Mulder. Pesto 011R will feature an amazing set of remixes by currently one of the hottest producers named Justin Michael, Thomas White of Natural Rhythm and West Coast Collective's very own Torin Rea plus a few more goodies.

Pesto 011 and 011R will be a true cross-Atlantic coop offering the very best in Deep House that's available on the planet right now. And, of course, we'll stick with the tradition of giving you the Pesto FreeBees, our hi quality MP3 downloads that you'll get for free. This time, we'll even offer you two free versions to download alongside the release of Pesto 011 and 011R.

On our sublabel Traxx Recordings, there's more hawtness coming your way: we're proud to announce that highly sought-after producer Da Funk from Switzerland's Acryl Music is having his debut on Traxx. After his "Electronic Love" on PestoLP002 (2.0 - The Next Generation Of Pesto Artists) founds its way into the CD sleeves of countless top DJs from all over, Da Funk returns with another smasher. "Roasted" will be one of the tunes to watch out for this spring and it's surely going to be one of this year's Eivissa staples. Pesto010R: From P60 remixes

After very successful presales of our Pesto 010 on Beatport, Traxsource and Stompy, we have just released a remix pack of From P60's "New Way".

Like the original release, the remixes are also loved by the DeepHouse family and the download stores. Pesto010R is a featured release on Beatport and Traxsource, helping us to make up chart positions again. Currently, The Mulder's Lights On Dub of New Way is on #12, Cristian Paduraru's House Dub enters on #92, Cristian's remix with vocals starts the rally on #90 of Beatport's DeepHouse chart, the whole release is on #78 on Traxsource and on #75 on Juno's DeepHouse list.

One year of Pesto Community

Last Monday, the 11th of February 2008, we had a reason to celebrate: our Pesto Community, the forum board for Pesto fans turned one year.

Although 83 registered members may not seem such a huge number, it's the hard core of Pesto addicts that posted nearly 500 articles within that year. The majority of those posts were DJ mixes of excellent quality. Taking a look at the server statistics though, the number of non-registered users embracing the possibilty to download hi quality Deep House mixes is an estimated 300 times higher. Our contributors come from all over the globe and have the same vibe in common.

Due to the cross-promotion of the community on last.fm, myspace and other social networking sites, the Pesto Community has established itself as a reliable source for House heads seeking for first class DJ mixes, a place to communicate with people thinking alike and a forum to exchange thoughts and compliments.

What's next there? You might have heard of the PestoMix guest slot competition that's running until 20th February 2008. In the future, the community will be the place to discover more talent and we'll make sure that more DJ talent gets heard. We'll also launch a section in brief that is going to deal with the technical side of things: production tutorials, mix tricks, software recommendations - whatever comes to your mind. We'll have more exclusives and previews on upcoming stuff for registered members. Please keep in mind that registering for the community is free, fast and I can assure you that your email adresses are as safe with us as on any other form you can complete on the Pesto pages. We hate spam as much as you!

Odd man out: a sunny afternoon, a drink in your hand and a new PestoMix running at a high level. What? It's raining on your side of the globe? We're sorry, but here's the seventh installment of our PestoMix series, this time compiled and mixed by Switzerland's Da Funk of Acryl Music - bringing the sunshine back to your life.

Earlier this year, we announced Da Funk's PestoMix as our January issue. It still is, although it's being released in February (which implies there's a second mix coming soon). Alongside the release of Jon Silva - I Want U (Pesto 009), we have selected the very original from 2003 as our FreeBee. Like the last time, when we gave Simone de Nauw's "Luv" to you, we offer the FreeBee in full 320kBits quality to you.

This FreeBee is released under no special license model, it's free as in freedom. There are a few rules to follow though:
- you can freely distribute (i.e. share on P2P networks, transfer to your friends, etc.) the file as long as its original contents (the song itself, the meta data and cover artwork) remain unaltered

Long time without a PestoMix, we're aware of that - well, here you are: PestoMix 004 by Pesto Music head honcho Jon Silva. At the same time being the actual PestoMix, loyal followers of the Jon Silva Mixtapes series will get Mixtapes Vol. 9: "Music For Beach Bars" with this issue.

With this PestoMix, we have to announce several improvements. First, we offer a 128kBits AAC stream that enables us to chapter the whole file. This means you will find links to the respective record labels and/or artists from within the file when you listen to it in iTunes (or any other AAC player being capable of displaying chapters - please see the link for compatible players).

For all those that need or want to stick with the MP3 format, there's good news, too: instead of a bitrate of 96kBits, we'll shift up to 192kBits in order to deliver more shining hifi glory to you.

Jon Silva's Summer Of Remixes

It's been a long time without any news being posted here so here you are:

Jon has been working on a large number of remix projects for several labels and artists. The first result of the "Summer of Remixes" will be available on Plastic City.

For the second volume of Soda Inc.'s "Night Fever Remixes", Jon joined the circle of Spin Science (Estonia), Chris Niteshake and Steve Mill (both from Greece) and delivers his "Babe-A-Pella", a deep and driving dub mix using only small portions of Jon's original vocals. Make sure you also check out Vol. 1 with remixes by G-Pal (Greece), Morgan Page (USA) and Roberto Bardini (Italy) which is also available on 12".
Volume 2 of the Night Fever Remixes is available from 26th June via beatport.com and tracktracker.com.

The next remixes have been requested by the guys from Moscow's Moonbeam Music. Jon made two remixes for "Home" by Moonbeam feat. Julia B:

The "Jon Silva Remix" is pure Jon Silva sound using warm Wurlitzer chords, a fat and funky bassline to create a deep atmosphere that carries Julia's vocals. The "Camouflage Remix" heads towards a darker, more electronic approach. You will also find a Dub of the "Camouflage Remix" without the vocals.
Moonbeam feat. Julia B - "Home" on Moonbeam Digital (MBD009) will be out on July 2nd.

Also from Russia comes the digital label Deepology, run by the guys that also form the "Luckystars" team (Conya). Jon was asked to remix Seva K's "Zero Gravity" and came up with his "Orbit Funk Mix", a fusion of classic House and Funk sounds with an electronic topping or, well, just "Orbit Funk", as Jon calls it.
Seva K - "Zero Gravity" on Deepology Digital (DD007) will be out by end of July 2007.

More remixes have been requested by other artists and labels, we will keep you posted about the progress in pt. 2 of our news bulletin that will be published soon.

and the remix story continues...

Jon has finally finished his two remixes for Nikola Gala's Escada Music label: Jon delivered both a deeper and slightly tighter mix for Nikola's "Close To You". The "Chalkidiki Day Mix" is perfect for beach bars or sunny car rides while the "Thessaloniki Night Mix" is your pick for clubs. Soundwise, it's not a hard guess that Jon has been inspired by his recent stays in Greece - so look forward to some sunny vibes coming up on Escada by mid August.
In return, we're also proud to announce to have a Nikola Gala remix for the upcoming single of From P60 on Pesto 011.

Another remix Jon had been requested to do already back in May that finally sees the light of the day is for Romania's Christian Paduraru. "Sharing Transparently", originally being a deep Progressive tune turned into a Dub monster after Jon's treatment. And a third remix has been done for Clubstar, namely for "Don't Stop" by W.V.P. pres. Mr. Da-Nos. Jon just took the vocals of the original and gave it a completely new Acid/Big Room rework around it. The remix has proven it's floor smashing qualities on the recent gigs on EXIT festival, Greece and at Cologne's Vic Bar. Watch out for this club tune!

Last but not least, there's also a new track by "The Mulder" (yes, that's also Jon) out on Plastic City called "Torque" that's among the best selling tunes on Beatport right now. The track is part of the Plastic city compilation "Play". A digital EP by "The Mulder" is on its way.

Our way to say we're sorry is this: we offer you a free track download (i.e. at no costs). Yes, you read right - zero, nada, nichts, niente, ничего! You get a mastered, fully featured MP3 in full shining 320kBits glory - a file that could also go onto the release but we decided to give it to you as a present.

Good news #2 - you guessed it maybe: starting with today, we launch a new series called "Pesto Freebees". Here's PestoMix 003, this time coming from Zorz Post of Low Profile Bookings.

Low Profile Bookings, run by Zorz and his buddy Nick, are based in Kozani which lies in northern Greece, approx. one good hour by car from Thessaloniki. Georgios, as his real name is, is closely connected with the La Palma venue in Kozani that has seen guests from all over such as M.a.n.d.y., Terry Francis, Kevin Yost or lately Soda Inc. Zorz is known to provide excellent warmups but also has a residency in Kozani.

We're pretty sure you will enjoy his soothing blend of deep and groovy TechHouse, sexy Chicago body music and some electronic-influenced stuff that still sticks to an irresistable hip-shaking impulse (maybe it's also because spring is close). Here's the tracklist:

Well, we've just been mashed up (sounds like you just got punk'd, no?) or at least just discovered it happened. In a truly global world, Ehsan, a DJ from Canada took Babak Shayan's "Azadi" and made his own remix. Check it out here.
